Bowflex PR1000 review

Bowflex PR1000 Home Gym

The Bowflex PR1000 Home Gym model has up to 210 lbs of Power-Rod resistance, which provides you with more than enough resistance for an intense full-body workout.  The Bowflex PR1000 review of the all-in-one home gym model easily utilized more than 35 exercises that work & build the entire body.

Well placed upper, mid-range, and lower pulley attachments provide you with focused, high-intensity calorie-burning workouts on your chest, shoulders, arms, back, stomach, and legs.

Bowflex PR1000 Versatility:

One of the very first considerations for us when doing this Bowflex PR1000 review or assessing any all-in-one fitness machine is whether or not it could be used by the serious athlete for strength and fitness training and by the young and old fitness training enthusiasts alike. In the case of the Bowflex pr1000 home gym, the answer is a definitive NO. The Bowflex pr1000 home gym is not an all-in-one fitness machine for serious athletes.

Nor did I really expect it to, based solely on its fixed resistance of 210 pounds, and the fact that you cannot upgrade to a higher weight resistance. The limited number of exercises available and with the resistance limit of 210 pounds with no upgrade option for this model means that the PR1000 is geared towards the entry-level or beginner user.

To be fair, this all-in-one fitness machine was designed to target the home consumer looking for a versatile and compact yet well-built and economical multi-function gym machine for personal use, not the professional athlete. For this application, the PR1000 holds its own very well. With 30+ exercises available to you on demand, and a sliding seat to accommodate aerobic rowing exercises, this is a beautiful entry level compact home gym.

Usability of the Bowflex PR1000:

The second thing we look for is Usability… How easy is it to maneuver through a workout, change up the weight, swap out the bars and handles, etc.

I found swapping out the handles and bars to be pretty consistent with the industry norm, no surprises there.  Moving around the machine was no struggle either.  Of course, most all-in-one fitness machines have the lower pulley hook-up under the bench, and the pr1000 is no exception.  If I were to have a pet peeve, it would be the height of the lat pulldown bar.  The height of the bar would suffice if I were in the five-foot 10 range, but at six two I do not get full extension.

Overall, for the sake of this Bowflex PR1000 review, I found the machine very usable and versatile for beginner to early intermediate users.

Price point of the  Bowflex PR1000:

At a price point under $ 650, there’s nothing bad you can really say about the Bowflex pr1000 that would out weight the low price tag of this home gym universal… It’s a strong, well-built, well-rounded all-in-one exercise machine that will provide you years of trouble-free full-body workouts.  Well worth the minimal investment required to have this great Bowflex model in your home gym!

Bowflex PR1000 dimensions and footprint

Bowflex PR1000 Review

One outstanding feature that makes The Bowflex PR1000 is appealing as a home gym weight machine due to its small footprint. The PR1000 is reasonably small for the amount of versatility it offers. The minimum dimensions for this machine are listed at 84″L x 38″W (213 x 97 cm), and a height of 81″ (205 cm), though I found our unit closer to 86″ in height.

This home weight machine could comfortably fit in a variety of spaces such as an apartment, spare bedroom, garage, or basement.

Is the Bowflex PR1000 Versatile?

As advertised, this piece of equipment allows you to perform 25+ different exercises, but I easily racked up 30+ no problem at all.  You can certainly hit all six of the major muscle groups with a good variety of exercises and different angles.

Here are a number of different resistance exercises that were used in my workout during the week’s review.  These are plenty for a full-body workout, while also providing enough options to keep your workouts from getting stagnant.

Only the Bowflex PR1000, the Bowflex Blaze, and the Bowflex PR3000 have a built-in rowing station for Cardio workouts.

What great things do people say about the Bowflex PR1000 Home gym?

A fantastic Bowflex PR1000 review from Mike Back of the U.S. says:

I’ll start off  saying I love this gym. I’m 30 years old, work from home, watch my kid and have a bit of a busy schedule. Convenience of having this at home and not having to drive to the gym is why I made this purchase. I am very impressed with the resistance this comes with stock and is expandable for 2 more power rods.

(IT) Was very easy to put together just time consuming. In all took 3 hours to set up. I used a socket wrench and hex bit for the setup

Seller did a fantastic job of getting this to me earlier then expected. Had no issues in missing parts or broken parts. I’ve had for 2 months now and has already made a huge difference in my overall health and body physic. Hope this (Bowflex PR1000 review) review helps.

Satisfied buyer, Steve from the US, gives us his Bowflex pr1000 review:

Get this if you don’t want to go to the gym, and have limited space

Very good home machine… I can lift by myself, and I can push myself.

Jason T’s Bowflex pr1000 review from Canada states:

Great compact home gym

This is a great little workout machine. It took around two hours for the both of us to put it together without any surprises. There are enough activities for us to get us by until we feel like trekking to the gym for a complete workout

I would still purchase this unit again and have been recommending it.

And again from Canada, Chris gives us this Bowflex PR1000 review:

Solidly Built.

The steel frame on this system is so solid and heavy. It took my 3.5 hours to assemble alone but a second pair of hands for heavier pieces would have been helpful

Once fully assembled the system is mighty strong and well designed.
