Bowflex Xceed Power Rods Technology

This week we Review the Bowflex Xceed all-in-one home gym, which makes use of the Bowflex patented Power Rod technology to generate exercise resistance.

We would be remiss if we did not explore the patented Power Rods technology in-depth in this Bowflex Xceed review, as they are the source of resistance utilized on this universal machine.

The Bowflex power rods are designed to give the body a complete workout so that it can be toned and strengthened.

They give you an all-inclusive, full-body workout by utilizing resistance “rods” engineered using new-age high-tech composite materials for durability. They’re uniquely shaped into two sections of varying length – which gives them their name: “power rods” because they offer maximum strength training potential.

Manufactured using new-age high-tech composite materials, these Bowflex Power Rods are then sheathed and rigorously tested.  Subject to a number of strict quality control measures and rigorous tests, the process ensures the highest quality and durability. The Bowflex power rods are built to endure.

Bowflex Xceed Review

Bowflex power rod technology is revolutionary because it provides a way to experience the same resistance throughout your entire workout. The pulley and cable system set up this dynamic range of motion by making the exercise more difficult as you go through an extensive movement!

Bowflex Xceed Review

The Power Rods on the Bowflex Xceed home gym model come with a 5-year replacement warranty.

The Science Behind Bowflex Power Rod Technology

Power Rod technology works in conjunction with a pulley and cable system. This working resistance is derived from the long, flexible composite “power rods” which are located at the back or rear of the universal weight machine. As you go through your dynamic range of motion associated with an exercise, the resistance increases as tension accumulate on these power rods. They store energy while bent and then release it when straightened out. The Power Rods can be adjusted for various resistance and exercises so that there’s always just enough resistance during every repetition; no need to worry about whether it’ll feel too easy or difficult when doing squats because each move will always have its own unique level of difficulty.

Simply adding or clipping additional Bowflex Power Rods to the cable and pulley system increase the resistance involved in an exercise.  Similarly, removing or unclipping power rods will decrease the resistance of the exercise. Beginning fitness enthusiasts can start their training with resistance as low as 5 pounds and easily increase the power rod’s resistance as they become stronger, increasing in strength and building muscle.

All In One Home Gym

This Bowflex Xceed review looks at one of the most useful and versatile brands of home gym equipment. This weight machine can be used for exercises that cover strength, conditioning, or toning needs, which makes it perfect to use as an all-in-one exercise routine while at home recovering from injury or illness. It occupies little space with its dimensions being 64″ Length x 41″ Width x 83″ Height.

For the sake of this Bowflex Xceed review, having this exercise machine at home will definitely get you started in the right direction and on the path to fulfilling both young and old fitness goals alike

Usability of the Bowflex Xceed Home Gym:

With the incredibly small footprint of the Bowflex Xceed home gym coming in at just 53″L x 49″W x 82″H (135L x 124W x 208H cm), moving around this piece of compact exercise equipment is as easy as can be.

       Bowflex Xceed Resistance Changes

Open-face clips are used to add or remove the Bowflex power rods making it super quick and easy to change up resistance.  Traditional carabiner clips make swapping out the different hand grips, bars, and ankle straps speedy and painless also.

Almost all other universal weight machines with construction similar to the Bowflex Xtreme home gym utilize the same connectors and apparatus to clip onto the cables, handles, and bars, so there are no surprises here.

Our Bowflex Xceed review shows that navigating weight or resistance changes is a bit more work than the standard one pin pull and change you find on the typical universal weight machines utilizing a weight stack.  The Xceed home gym does not employ the same no-change cable pulley system as the Bowflex Blaze either.  As such, you will be changing pulley connections quite often.  This practice is exaggerated to some extent, in that there is no center upper pulley, which is the most common configuration found on these types of machines.  Instead, the Bowflex Xceed home gym model has two upper pulleys you have to connect for lat pull-downs and similar exercises.  Add to that, you will also be required to change the physical positioning of the pulleys themselves for some exercises, as we had found out in this Bowflex Xtreme review.

Bowflex Xceed Dimensions and Bowflex Xceed Height

Bowflex Xceed dimensions

Our Bowflex Xtreme review shows the dimensions of this home gym coming in at just 53 inches in length by 49 inches wide, and 82 inches tall, or 135 cm Long x 124 cm Wide x 208 cm in Height – it will fit a 7-foot ceiling, making it perfect for a basement with low usable ceiling height.  Bowflex recommends a usable floor space of at least 96″ x 78″ (244 x 198 cm), for safety and convenience.

This compact all in one home gym machine has, without a doubt, one of the smallest footprints of any of the home workout machines we have ever used.  Our 10-foot by 10-foot area seemed like overkill for this lady.

Bowflex Xceed Price Point:

The Bowflex Xceed home gym is one of the companies mid-range universal weight machines. It costs more than their entry-level model, the PR1000, and significantly lower than their flagship model, the Bowflex Revolution. Its price point is in the pocket and similarly priced to the PR3000 and Blaze models.  Coming in just under $ 1,000, this is a reasonably priced and worthy investment in both young and old fitness goals.

As an investment in your physical fitness goals, the Bowflex Xceed home gym is a well built, rugged steel construction, with reinforced pulleys rated for 800 pounds, packaged in a very elegant all-in-one exercise machine that will help develop your cardio fitness and provide your body with an awesome muscle building pump.  The Xceed will deliver a lifetime of worry-free usage and a wide selection of satisfying calorie-burning full body work-outs.  One purpose of our Bowflex Blaze home gym review is to determine whether or not this universal home gym is worth the asking price as an entry-level to an intermediate level piece of home gym equipment all in one package.  Is it the best home exercise equipment for beginners?

  Bowflex Xceed Foot Print

It is certainly a leader in its category for sure.  I have no reservations about recommending this as one of the best Bowflex home gyms.  I can’t wait to compare this unit against some of the bigger boys, it will make for a serious contender against some of the much higher-priced home gym machines.

This home weight machine will easily fit in a variety of spaces such as apartments, spare bedrooms, in your basement, or garage.

Bowflex Xceed Review Summary:

Many studies show how Bowflex Power Rod Technology is some of the best forms of resistance for increasing your muscle mass quickly and efficiently. Furthermore, these studies indicate that you burn many more calories during a resistance workout over an aerobic workout. Bowflex Power Rod technology has been proven effective in increasing muscle mass and muscle density while also increasing your metabolic rate. Increasing your metabolism is necessary to burn calories, burn fat, and lose excess weight.

Bowflex Power Rods are utilized on many of the best Bowflex home gym models such as the Bowflex PR 1000 and Bowflex PR3000 series, the Bowflex Blaze all in one home gym, the Bowflex Xceed home gym, and the Bowflex Xtreme 2 SE all in one fitness machines. The Bowflex Power Rods were designed to enrich muscle growth and help you hit both young and old fitness goals.

The 7-year warranty on the Power Rods themselves shows the confidence Bowflex has in the power rod components.

What great things are people saying about the Bowflex Xceed Home gym?

A Fantastic Bowflex Xceed review from Gumonchoji   of the U.S.:

The Bowflex Xceed home gym is a wonderful workout machine thus far. I am reasonable And got this as a public gym replacement. 2020 had those closed a few months and this was less than the monthly membership.

The item is sturdy and fits me at 6’3″.

Workouts: It does what cable pull machines, free weights and barbells can do. Basically replacing a bench press station, leg presses and putdown machines.

Who should get this: Reasonable goals and working people with limited space/time/budget. My big advice on getting a bow flex is they are a great start point for working out. It is self contained, looks nice and holds up well. Also you can start with super low resistance and work up. Also the way it sits makes watching TV and working out easy. The gentle resistance is good for rehabbing injuries and allows you to move up in resistance as well as keep both sides of your body honest and balanced. The machine is also good if you are older as you can set it to what you need. The machine will get you pretty big if that is a goal. But reasonably so. 400+lbs resistance is more than most will ever get to.

“Definitely satisfied”…  buyer, Brad Pski has a great all in one home gym Bowflex Xceed review:

Not a big long review here, just wanted to make sure my opinion was heard. This machine has been life changing. I am so glad I did not second guess my decision to purchase. I love the bar above the head and that the seat is removable. We already have a lay down bench so i wasn’t worried about that. This thing takes up almost no space at all and had helped me build some major muscles.

“No Regrets”…Another 5 star Bowflex Xceed review from Anachen:

With gyms being closed indefinitely, my body was feeling and showing the impact of not using free weights and cables and I needed a home gym. Stack gym units and cardio equipment were selling out fast everywhere.
I was on the fence about Bowflex units leaning more towards a stack gym with weight plates but Bowflex appeared to offer more versatility and reviews pushed me off the fence.

Delivery time was quick and done by a moving company which was constantly notifying me of delivery time.

I can get a full workout for paired muscle groups in an hour and have been pleasantly surprised at how my body feels after each workout – pushed to fail!! Paired with dumbbells to target specific muscles, I’m getting what I needed. I still hit my gym that has reopened for additional leg and cardio workouts but Bowflex has proven to be a solid base.

” A good Choice” says JB Maverick of the United States in his  enthusiastic Bowflex Xceed review :

I agonized for several weeks over which Bowflex (home gym model) to get (throwing out the top two, which I couldn’t possibly afford). Having had and used the Exceed for about a month now, I think I made the right choice. The Bowflex Xceed actually offers a significantly greater variety of exercises than the Bowflex PR3000. The plus for the PR3000 (which is significantly more expensive) is that you never have to change the pulley connections – but I’ve found that if you organize your workouts the right way, then you can pretty much get by with just one pulley setup per day and not have to constantly be changing back and forth DURING your workout. Also, once you get it down pat as far as knowing how the different pulley connections go, it’s not that much trouble anyway – pretty quick and easy.

Oh, I do recommend getting the extra 100 pounds of (Bowflex power rods) resistance to 310 – I don’t need it right now but I can tell that I will later on.
Anyway, all in all, I think this Bowflex is really good – plenty of exercises for each muscle group – and very much a bargain as compared to other choices.
